Northwest India including the national capital is set to experience widespread thundershower for the next two days as a fresh and strong Western Disturbance is about to barge into India.

"A strong Western Disturbance is approaching and would adversely affect weather over northwest India including Delhi-National Capital Region during April 15-17 with peak activity on April 16. The atmospheric conditions would become favourable for the occurrence of widespread thunderstorm activity over the region," India Meteorological Department says in a statement.

The Western Disturbance — a storm that originates in the Mediterranean and impacts the weather all over Asia — will draw fresh moisture from the Arabian Sea as well as from the Bay of Bengal to trigger rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and parts of Rajasthan.

The thunderstorm will be accompanied by lightning, hailstorm and squall with a wind speed of 60-70 km per hour gusting to 80 km per hour in large parts of northwest India including Delhi-NCR.
