US echoes India's call to Pak to stop aiding terror

In the wake of the terror attack at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, the United States has joined India to call upon Pakistan to immediately stop aid to all terrorist organisations operating in its territory.

“The US calls on Pakistan to end immediately the support and safe haven provided to all terrorist groups operating on its soil, whose only goal is to sow chaos, violence and terror in the region,” Sarah Sanders, Press Secretary of the White House, said in a statement issued in Washington DC.

Soon after the attack, India accused Pakistan of giving “full freedom” to the JeM chief and international terrorist Masood Azhar to operate and expand his organisation’s terror infrastructure in its territory. India also asked Pakistan to stop supporting terrorists and terror groups and dismantle the infrastructure operated by terrorist outfits to launch attacks in other countries.

US call

The US echoed India's call to Pak to end support to terror outfits and held them responsible for “chaos, violence and terror” in the region. “This attack only strengthens our resolve to bolster counter-terrorism cooperation and coordination between the United States and India,” said the White House Press Secretary.

“The United States is resolutely committed to working with the Indian government to combat terrorism in all its forms,” Robert Palladino, Deputy Spokesperson of the US State Department, said in a separate statement. “The UN designated, Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Muhammad has claimed responsibility for this heinous act. We call on all countries to uphold their responsibilities pursuant to UN Security Council resolutions to deny safe haven and support for terrorists,” added Palladino.
