<p>Lucknow: Union home minister <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/amit-shah">Amit Shah</a> on Monday took the holy dip at the ‘Sangam’ (the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati rivers) in Prayagraj and performed ‘puja’ at the revered ‘Akshoy Vat’, a sacred tree under which Sage Sukhdeva had recited the Srimad Bhagwad Purana to King Parikshit, the grandson of Arjuna.</p><p>Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, yoga guru Baba Ramdev and several senior seers and saints, Shah took the holy dip at the ‘sanagm’ waters. His family members also accompanied him.</p><p>In a post on his ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle before the dip, Shah said that the Mahakumbh was an excellent symbol of Sanatan culture and that he was eager to take bath in the sangam waters and have blessings of the seers.</p>.<p>According to the sources, the union minister would also be taking part in some rituals during his visit to the Mahakumbh. Elaborate security arrangements were made during the visit of Shah at the Mahakumbh.</p><p>Baba Ramdev said that Shah was the ‘gaurav’ (pride) of Sanatan Dharma. ‘’The Mahakumbh is the biggest event of the Sanatan Dharma,’’ he added.</p><p>According to the UP officials, so far more than 13.21 crore devotees had taken the holy dip at the sangam and this figure was increasing with every passing day. Millions of devotees were expected to bathe at the sangam on the occasion of ‘Mauni Amavasya’ on January 29. </p>
