Minor boy assaulted and 'forced to urinate' on Pakistani flag in Aligarh

Lucknow: In a shocking incident, a minor Muslim student, who had, out of curiosity, picked up a Pakistani flag lying on the road, was allegedly abused and made to ‘urinate’ on the flag by some saffron activists in Uttar Pradesh’s communally sensitive Aligarh town.

A video, which went viral on social media platforms, purportedly showed the student, identified as Murad, who studied in 9^th standard, being forced to ‘urinate’ on the Pak flag while a mob looked on.

The incident reportedly happened on Monday but it came to light on Wednesday after the video went viral.

According to the reports, the student, who was going home with his friends, had picked up the flag which lay on the road near Rasalganj locality in the town. He was seen doing so by some people, who, after asking for his name, allegedly abused him and later forced him to ‘urinate’ on the flag. The boy was also made to chant ‘Hindustan Zindabad’ and ‘Pakistan Murdabad’, reports said.

The boy, according to the reports, kept pleading that he had picked up the Pak flag ‘out of curiosity’ but the mob did not listen to his pleas.

Sources said that a case was registered in this regard and three persons were detained. The police said that they were investigating the matter and that stern action would be taken against the offenders after identifying them from the video.

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Manoj Yadav decried the incident and said that some people were trying to disrupt communal harmony after the Pahalgam terror attack.’’It is a very disturbing video...the administration must take strict action,’’ he added.
