Yogi unveils schemes worth Rs 30,000 cr to develop ‘Braj’ as devotees flock to Mathura, Vrindavan on Janmashtami

Lucknow: Millions of devotees from across the country and abroad thronged Mathura and Vrindavan on the occasion of ‘Shrikrishna Janmashtami’ on Saturday with the people making a beeline before the famous temples in the twin towns to witness the celebrations and pay obeisance.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who also visited Mathura and paid obeisance at the Shrikrishna Janmabhoomi, announced schemes worth Rs 30 thousand crores to develop the ‘Braj’ (the region which is part of Shrikrishna circuit of Hindu Pilgrimage and comprises districts adjoining Mathura).

‘’The developmental projects are aimed at developing Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul, Barsana connecting them with the memories of the Dwapar Yuga,’’ Adityanath said after launching the schemes.

He also referred to the development of Kashi, Ayodhya and Vindhyavasini Dham in Mirzapur and said that his government was committed to honor the sentiments of the saints and seers and develop important religious places in the state.

Meanwhile braving the scorching Sun, millions of devotees thronged the temples in Mathura and Vrindavan on the occasion of Janmashtami. Long queues of devotees were seen before the famous Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan.

The devotees also thronged the famous Dwarkadheesh Temple, Shrikrishna Janmabhoomi and others. The temples have been decked up with flowers and lights on the occasion.

Elaborate security arrangements were made in Mathura and Vrindavan on the occasion. According to the officials, the Janmashtami festivities would conclude on Monday.

Janmashtami was celebrated with traditional fervor across the state on Saturday with the devotees thronging the Krishna Temples and paying obeisance there.
