US Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke on Monday said although India had made “tremendous strides” in opening up its economy, it needed to do a lot more. He stressed that New Delhi should lower the tariff barriers that now ranges from 19 pc levies on civil aviation aircraft and 30 pc on pistachios to 26 pc on X-ray film and 50 pc on apples. Locke is leading a high-technology US trade mission to India to promote exports of American technologies.
