Interim relief may be recommended for rape victim

Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority (DKDLSA) is likely to recommend the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) to give interim compensation for the Thota Bengre Alive Bagilu gang rape victim.

Sources told DH that the DKDLSA member-secretary Mallanagowda Patil interacted with the victim on Thursday.

“The DKDLSA recommendation for interim compensation, if approved by the KSLSA, will ensure the victim gets an interim compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh under the NALSA’s model victim compensation scheme, which was notified by the government in September,” the sources added.
