IT raid on Cong leader continues on Day 2

The raid by Income-Tax (IT) officials on the houses and offices of entrepreneur and Congress leader Muniyalu Uday Kumar Shetty continued even on the second day, on Thursday.

The officials scrutinised the documents seized from Shetty’s house in Perampally, Manipal, a cashew factory in Muniyalu and a fish mill in Kota till Thursday late night.

Congress workers, meanwhile, accused the Central government of launching a witch hunt against Shetty, who had posted a photograph of himself with former union minister Ahmed Patel on social media.

Shetty, who had lobbied for Congress party ticket from Karkala Assembly Constituency, had begun preparations to contest from Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket, sources added.
