Codava National Council will organise its 23rd ‘Kakkada Namme’ at Capital Village on August 3, said CNC Chairman Nandineravanda Nachappa.

Addressing reporters on Wednesday, he said that the programme upholds the significance of Kodava tradition. The ‘Kakkada Padi Nett Namme’ will be observed by giving importance to culture.

The ritual is observed by the farming community as a part of its agricultural activity. The CNC will observe the same by transplanting paddy in the field.

‘Madd Payasa’, the porridge of ‘madd’ leaves, will be prepared on the occasion. The intake of Madd Payasa is beneficial for health, Nachappa said and added that the rituals on Kakkada Namme also highlight the importance of River Cauvery.
