A special occasion or party night means special touches that help you stand out in a crowd. Whether it is a new hairstyle, great accessorising or highlights in your make-up. Think about what you will wear and the ideal accessories that will add the right touches to your attire. If you do it in good time, you have the chance to try out different accessories, or get some new ones. It gives enough time to coordinate your look.

Gorgeous hair & nails

A new look is renewing and has a positive impact in terms of boosting confidence. You can try a change of hairstyle, like putting up your hair with fancy hair accessories or ribbons. Wearing flowers in the hair can be quite alluring. Or, leave it loose, but be sure to wash and condition, adding lustre to the hair. You can also add a touch of glamour with colour streaks. Try a herbal hair mascara. The effect lasts till the next shampoo and really helps to limit damage to the hair. Adding streaks of colour is an easy way of highlighting the hair and adding glamour. Even a single streak will look good. Try nail art with temporary stickers, or make a style statement with a French manicure.

For your eyes only

Fake eyelashes and eyelash extensions are being used to add glamour and make the lashes look longer and thicker. They really help to add an extra touch. Try using an eyelash curler for an attractive effect. Then apply some mascara. Golden foundation, with gold tinted powder, would be great for night make-up. It lends glow, and you can also use gold dust for an added effect.

Get the look

Apply foundation on the face, forehead, nose and cheeks. Using a moist sponge, spread it evenly, going outwards. Apply on the eyelids too. Blend well. Then, apply it on the lower part of the face, on the chin, and on either side along the jawline. Again, spread evenly and blend. Remember the neck too. Apply and spread evenly from the chin downwards.

Add some blush too. Be subtle, so that it provides just a healthy glow. Powder blushers are easier to apply and are best for summer. Apply on the cheekbones and slightly below them. You can use your fingertips to dot the area with blusher. Then, blend with the brush, outwards and slightly upwards, making sure there are no harsh lines or a blotchy effect. Pink or peach blusher would suit most skin tones.

Personally, subtlety is far more attractive, especially in the summers. Avoid using lip liners and just brush the lips with lipstick, going for shades of pink. At night, you can go for rose, coral or bronze, or dark pink. Avoid very dark red or maroon lipstick for the night. A pearly shimmer or a glossy look will be attractive.

Use a brown eyeshadow on the eyelids. Try using the same brown shadow under the lower lashes, instead of an eyeliner or kajal. Apply a darker brown eyeshadow on the upper lid, close to the upper lashes. If you want to line the eyes, use an eye pencil, rather than an eyeliner. Give your eyes a light touch of mascara. Make sure the lashes do not stick together. Brush them with an eyelash comb.

Browns & bronze

For the evenings, you may use shine or gloss for the eyes. Use browns, bronze and gold. Brown eyeshadow can be applied in the socket or crease of the lids, to add depth. Highlight under the brows with gold, ivory or a light coloured eyeshadow. The smoky look can be achieved by smudging the eyeliner slightly with a sponge-tipped applicator. Blacks and dark browns are popular for the eyeliner. Similarly, silver or shimmering bronze and copper can be used for eyeshadow. White pearly shimmer may also be used on the eyes, under the brows. Apply mascara in two or three coats, but remember to brush the lashes after each coat dries. So, go on, get party ready!
