Man drowns in Nethravathi

A 30-year-old man drowned while fishing in River Nethravathi at Gundya near Innoli on the outskirts of Mangaluru on Thursday.

Harish Naik was a resident of Pajeer. He had accidentally slipped into the stream which was in full flow.

The body was recovered after a joint operation by Konaje police and the Fire and Emergency Services Department personnel.

A case has been registered at Konaje police station.

The course of the river in Innoli area, which is considered to be a dangerous spot, has claimed several lives earlier. Four students were washed away by the water currents and two youths lost their lives one-and-a-half year back.
