Actor Sonu Gowda believes that her upcoming movie ‘Onthara Bannagalu’, will be an enjoyable watch for all movie buffs. Sonu will be seen playing the role of Janaki, a youngster. The film intends to make any movie-goer slow down and enjoy life.

In a candid chat with Tini Sara Anien, she talks about the film and more.

Tell us a bit about the film.

The film is a journey of five individuals and how they hang out with each other. What is the whole point of earning a lot and not having personal time or family to share it with? The film revolves around this philosophy and more. There are no elaborate love stories or lovey-dovey scenes and the film has a light-hearted story.

There are a lot of travel-based films coming out now. What makes ‘Onthara Bannagalu’ stand out?

The film goes through different terrain and varied locations like Hubballi, Badami, Mangaluru, Sakhleshpur, Tumkur etc. The scenes feel like a depiction of how life in itself is a conglomeration of different experiences. The cinematography of the film will be a treat and it will be a travel film with a lot of emotions.

How different was your role as Janaki?

Janaki is from Hubballi and she hails from a conservative family. Whichever movie I have done previously required me to slip into the skin of the character and be someone else. In ‘Onthara Bannagalu’, the director gave me the freedom to explore my character and do whatever I wanted to. One can see Sonu in the film.

Do Sonu and Janaki share any common traits?

We are very similar. Janaki is also a lot of fun and is a very innocent girl.

Any fun moments from the film that you recollect?

The best part of the film was when the actors -- all five of us -- set out on an actual trip and bonded with each other. During the trip, we shared our secrets and spoke about our own lives, which helped us build the chemistry with each other. We have turned into a set of five friends now.

Have you ever wondered about your own pace of life?

We all take life too seriously. There have been times when I am not on a set or awaiting a release and I get too stressed or anxious. Whenever something doesn’t work according to my plan I used to feel like my world has fallen apart. But I have learnt to take things in its stride now. This is exactly where the film helped me too!
