Vocal strains

Music Circle, Chandra Layout is holding a vocal music concert by Vidushi Gayathri Venkatesan on June 19, 6.15 pm at  No. 12, Basaveshwara HBCS, 7th Cross, 2nd Main, Chandra Layout. She will be accompanied by Adithi Krishnaprakash on the violin and by Ranjini Venkatesh on the mridangam.

Grand recital

Nadasurabhi Cultural Association is holding a grand vocal recital by Sankaran Namboothiri on June 19, 4.15 pm at the Indian Heritage Academy Hall, 6th Block, near Police Station, Koramangala. Classical notes

Sri Thyagaraja Gana Sabha Trust and Directorate of Kannada and Culture are organising a ‘Grand Carnatic Classical Vocal Concert’ on June 19, between 5 pm and 7.30 pm, at Sri Vani Education Centre. The concert will have Rajyashree Josyer as the vocalist.

In memory

Hindustani Sangeeta Kalakara Mandali, in joint participation with ‘Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs’, is holding ‘Pt Shankara Sadashiva Joshi Memorial Concert’. On the occasion, a lecture-cum-demonstration on the subject, ‘Brief history of harmonium and its application in Hindustani Raag Sangeet by Vyasamurti Katti, will be held on June 25, 6 pm at Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs, near BMS Engineering College, Bull Temple Road, N R Colony. He will be accompanied by Anagha Bhat (vocal), Jagadeesh Kurtkoti (tabla) and Sowmya Bhat (tanpura).

‘Bhajans’

The disciples of late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi will render bhajans, abhang and daasavani in a programme organised by Doordarshan Kendra, Bangalore to pay tribute to the legendary singer on June 19, 6 pm at Glass House, Raj Bhavan. Pandit Narasimhalu Vadavati will play clarinet. Ananth Terdal, Upendra Bhat, Prasanna Gudi, Srinivas Joshi, Jayateertha Mevundi will render bhajans and daasavani. Students of Nrutya Niketana will present a dance recital.

‘Handshake Concert’

To celebrate the ‘World Music Day’, Mindlogicx is holding the fourth edition of the ‘Handshake Concert’, which will be held  at Chowdiah Memorial Hall on June 21, 6 pm. This year it is being presented by Mindlogicx, Bangalore, and organised by Rattle and Hum Music Society in collaboration with Nagaland University, North-East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Tourism Nagaland and the Rolling Stone. The artiste line-up for the show this year are Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, ‘Soulmate’, Melodrama, ‘Divine Connection’, Anuradha Pal, Sathya, ‘Swarathma’, Kenei Chale, folk artistes Khrukusolu and Vetolu Lohe. The MC for the evening is musician and actor Luke Kenny.

Soothing strains

Vamshy Academy of Music Trust and Ananya are holding Eka Vaageyakaara Concert Series 3 of Patnam Subramanya Iyer on June 19, 5.30 pm at Ananya, 4th Main, between 11th and 13th Cross, Malleswaram.

‘Sangeethothsava’

Yuva Sangeethothsava, a musical fest, will be held at Sri Mahaganapathi Sangeetha Sabha till June 26. The Sabha is located at 56A, Sri Lakshminarasimha Krupa, R R Temple Road, Devasandra, K R Puram.

Popular songs

A concert will be presented by ‘Soulmate’ (Shillong) on June 22, 8.30 pm at BFlat. ‘Soulmate’ comprises Rudy Wallang (guitar and vocals) and ‘Tips’ Khabyangar (guitar and vocals). They will be accompanied by Sam Shullai (drums), Leon Wallang (bass) and Raveen Pandey (keyboard). They will be presenting popular songs from their previous albums and some new material as well.
