AAP sets up panel to tackle internal dissent

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) may be staring at a crisis due to a host of unresolved issues, including fierce opposition by a section of its leaders to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s insistence on restricting party activities to Delhi.

The AAP has been unable to end the conflict over fielding tainted candidates in Delhi election. The party’s National Executive has assigned senior leaders the task of working out a formula to end the standoff.

“The party will overcome the problem. Some senior leaders, including Anand Kumar, Pankaj Gupta and Gopal Rai, are talking to leaders to work out a formula to resolve the impasse,” a party source told Deccan Herald.

The letter of party Lokpal Admiral S Ramdas, which was leaked to the media, gives a glimpse of the crisis. Ramdas has expressed serious concern over communication-gap between Kejriwal, Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav and he wants strict adherence to credible process of decision making and inner-party democracy. He has also questioned Kejriwal for holding dual posts of party convener and the Delhi chief minister.
