AIADMK on Friday interpreted Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s statement asking his fans and supporters to vote for a party capable of the state’s water crisis as an endorsement for the rainbow coalition stitched together by it along with BJP and PMK.

The party’s mouthpiece, Namadhu Amma, in an article on Friday interpreted Rajinikanth’s statement as an indirect reference to the constitution of Cauvery Management Board.

“Though Tamil Nadu has been battling Cauvery issue for a very long time, the long-standing demand of Cauvery Management Board was realised only during the time when BJP is ruling the Centre and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu,” the article said.

The article titled ‘Kaala’s vote for Kazhagam’ referring to Rajinikanth’s last year movie went on to explain in detail the efforts by the BJP and AIADMK governments to solve water crisis in Tamil.

“You don’t need to refer to an Oxford dictionary to find out the meaning of Rajinikanth’s statement. His statement clearly indicates that the actor wants his supporters to vote for the AIADMK-BJP-PMK alliance,” the article said.

Rajinikanth on Sunday while announcing that he will not contest the Lok Sabha polls due in May made an appeal to his fans and supporters to vote for a party who they believed would be able to bring a permanent solution to the water crisis in Tamil Nadu by forming a “stable and strong” government at the Centre.

Immediately after Rajinikanth released his statement on Sunday, political observers had interpreted it as the actor’s indirect way of supporting the BJP. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth met DMDK founder and actor Vijayakanth on Friday and dubbed it as “courtesy call.”
