Amit Shah asks people to vote based on Sabarimala

In a direct call for votes over the Sabarimala women entry issue, BJP president Amit Shah has said that the party's candidate at Pathanamthitta, K Surendran, is a candidate representing those who believe in faiths and traditions.

Thousands of BJP workers took part in a road show of Amit Shah at Pathanamthitta on Saturday, brightening BJP's hopes over winning the seat where the Ayyappa temple is located.

Addressing the gathering, Amit Shah said that Surendran was a candidate for protecting faiths and beliefs. He represented not the BJP, but the devotees across the world.

With just a day left for the open campaigns in Kerala to end, the BJP was giving much hype to the Sabarimala issue, despite Election Commission's warnings against use of Sabarimala issue for seeking votes. Surendran, who is BJP state general secretary, had led the protests against the entry of women in 10 to 50 age group to Sabarimala.
