An anti-encroachment drive in Kerala’s Idukki district resumed on Thursday, as a 25-foot cross reportedly installed by a Christian group on encroached land was razed to the ground.
The revenue department’s action at Pappathichola did run into obstacles as vehicles were parked on the roads, reportedly to stop the officials from carrying out their duties. The cross was erected amid concerns that religion was being used as a front by land grabbers in the high-range district.
