Assembly polls in mind, BJP paints water pots saffron

With the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly polls in mind, the ruling BJP is leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters.

To gain popularity among masses, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is installing thousands of Kamal Pyaos (drinking water for passers-by) and Kamal Parindas (drinking pots) across the city, which are painted in the colour of party’s flag.

The campaign has been named as Kamal Parinda and the party headquarters is abuzz with BJP workers painting in green and saffron colour and then putting lotus flower in the bottom.

With a target of installing 3,100 Parindas in three days, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Friday installed the first Parinda of the campaign at Jawahar Circle.

“The Pyaos (water coolers) have been installed to serve drinking water to passers-by and similarly Parindas are for the birds. As of now this campaign has been started in Jaipur and it could be replicated by other district units of the BJP,” Mayor and BJP leader Ashok Lahoti told DH.

The Jaipur Municipal Corporation is also supporting the campaign.

The Opposition Congress has criticised the BJP move by calling it an opportunist party.

“In the name of social service they are exploiting people’s emotions. What is the need to advertise their party logo if they want to do it for public?. It’s not for the first time. Earlier also they gifted saffron cycles to students in schools and even changed their uniform,” Congress spokesperson Archana Sharma said.
