BJP today hit back at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying that Congress will be in a minority in Gujarat after the Assembly elections.

Rubbishing Singh's remark that minorities were feeling "insecure" in the BJP-ruled state, BJP spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain said the results will show that Congress will be far short of majority.

He said the Prime Minister's visit to Vansada in Gujarat will not be able swing the voters.

"... The situation of Congress there will be that it will get seats in minority," Hussain told reporters here.

His comments came in the wake of Singh saying at an election rally that: "Unlike the Opposition we do not play politics of dividing the people. Such type of politics is bad in itself and for a longer period of time cannot be beneficial for a political party."

Without naming Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Singh also said, "The time has come to liberate Gujarat from this type of politics and to not let those people come back to power, who have been trying to get votes by dividing our society and country."

Meanwhile, BJP leader Uma Bharati, who returned from Gujarat, claimed that situation there was one-sided.

"BJP's government is returning there with a landslide majority," Bharati told reporters here.
