Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president V M Sudheeran on Friday resigned from his position.
In a surprise announcement made during a press conference here, Sudheeran cited ill health as the reason behind his decision.
Sudheeran had taken over as the state Congress chief in February 2014 as part of the central leadership’s efforts to bring in a truce in the wake of recurring factional feuds in the party. He recently fell from a stage during an event in Kozhikode. “I’ve been advised to rest following the incident. I’ll be sending the resignation letter to the Congress president today,” Sudheeran told reporters on Friday.
