Preparing itself for Lok Sabha polls, the DMK on Sunday announced committees to hold talks with allies like the Congress on seat-sharing and prepare the party’s manifesto for the much-awaited general elections due in May.

While the committee to hold seat-sharing talks with allies will be headed by party treasurer Duraimurugan, the manifesto committee will be chaired by principal secretary and former Union minister T R Baalu, party general secretary K Anbazhagan said in a press release.

Former minister I Periyasamy, K Ponmudy, K N Nehru and A Velu and R S Bharathi are members of the committee that will hold talks with allies, the manifesto preparation committee would include Kanimozhi, former Union minister A Raja and Subbulakshmi Jagadessan, V P Duraisamy, Tiruchi Siva, T K S Elangovan and Professor A Ramasamy.

The DMK has already announced that it will contest the Lok Sabha polls in alliance with the Congress.

Small parties like the MDMK and the VCK are also likely to be part of the rainbow alliance that has already announced Congress president Rahul Gandhi as their prime ministerial candidate.

While other parties are yet to decide on their Lok Sabha strategy, the DMK has gone ahead and appointed committees.
