A team of CBI officials arrived at the state CID’s headquarters in Kolkata on Tuesday and provided some documents related to the investigation.

The development comes a day after former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar did not appear before the Central agency for questioning with the regard to the Saradha Chit fund scam. Kumar currently holds the post of ADG-CID.

“It is not another summons to Kumar. We provided some documents related to the investigation,” a senior CBI official said. The CBI authorities refuted the reports that another summon has been issued to Kumar.

One state police officer was questioned by the CBI in connection with the chit fund scam during the day.

Earlier in the day, a team of CBI officials visited the residence of Kolkata-based lawyer Y S Dastoor, probably to consult him about Kumar’s issue. CBI has also summoned another IPS officer from Bengal Arnab Ghosh in relation to the chit fund scam, CBI sources said.

CBI has accused Kumar of not cooperating in the investigation into the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam. Earlier Supreme Court withdrew the legal protection against arrest by CBI from Kumar.
