A National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team of experts has joined efforts to save a 14 month old girl child “Chinnari” who has fallen into an uncovered bore well more than 60 feet deep in an agricultural field in Chennvelli village of Vikarabad district on Thursday evening.

The NDRF team which rushed to Chennvelli from Mangalagiri in Andhra Pradesh has been trying to rescue the child with the help of a remotely operated robotic arm; however their efforts have not yielded any results. Even as the team succeeded in lifting the submersible pump from the deep bore well, the child apparently slipped and fell much deeper.

Parents of the child Yadagiri and Renuka who were working in the nearby field at that time said that elder sister Harshitha has seen Chinnari slipping into the uncovered bore well. Villagers then informed the police who started rescue operations immediacy. The district administration has pressed four excavators into service to dig pits close to the bore well. However heavy boulders have come in the way hindering their efforts.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Shamshabad, PV Padmaja oxygen has been pumped in continuously and care has been taken that the bore well won’t collapse due to the activity surrounding it. She said that there was some movement and the baby could be heard crying till Friday morning.

Telangana Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy rushed to the spot and he is camping in the village supervising the operations.
