Federal Front will be major shock to BJP, Cong: KCR

Last Updated 25 July 2019, 13:42 IST

Holding both the Congress and the BJP responsible for the never-ending water wars and farmers suicides in the country, Telangana Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao said the Federal Front he proposed would give a new direction to development agenda.

He also said it will also demonstrate to the world what India is truly capable of.

Addressing the 17th plenary of TRS at Kompally on the city outskirts on Friday, KCR said that the front is aimed at transforming the country's infrastructure, irrigation, agriculture and industries sectors.

However, he did not spell out which parties would join the front.

He said farmers' welfare and development of infrastructure would be the cornerstones of the Federal Front’s agenda.

"Our motto is to irrigate every acre of land in the country. We will show how this can be done in a matter of six to seven years," he said.

He said he would operate national politics from Hyderabad. "Sitting here, we will create sensation in national politics. Telangana will play a role in doing good to the country," he said.

Earlier, a political resolution adopted at the plenary had authorised the party president to initiate the Federal Front.

One of the six resolutions that were adopted at the plenary said that KCR had begun taking steps to bring together like-minded parties, while not specifying the parties.

"It is inevitable that the direction of politics in the country will veer towards a qualitative change," the resolution, moved by the party general secretary and Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao, said.

KCR was categorical in saying that the Federal Front is not an opportunistic cobbling together of a new political outfit but an alternative agenda.

He first mooted the idea of an alternative front in March and in quick succession he met TMC chief Mamata Banerjee and JD (S) chief HD Deve Gowda along with actor Prakash Raj.

At the plenary, KCR announced that he will be meeting DMK leader Stalin to discuss the Federal Front on May 22 and that Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav is going to come to Hyderabad soon to discuss about the front.
