Former cricketer arrested for kidnapping Gujarat trader

Nekkanti Madhukar, Andhra Pradesh fast bowler who had represented India 'A' and son of former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) member Nekkanti Venkatrao, was arrested for allegedly kidnapping trader Ramesh Maheshwari (72).

Madhukar, who starred against Priyanka Chopra in a Telugu film, is now into business. He had engaged Maheshwari to source iron ore for him and even paid him Rs 70 lakh, police inspector at Valsad town P S Vadvi said.

However, the deal went sour due to increase in prices of iron ore.Madhukar, along with two of his accomplices, came to Valsad and kidnapped Maheshwari to recover the amount that was given to him and took him to Maharashtra, police said.

Kidnappers were traced to be between Mumbai and Nashik based on their mobile phone records.Valsad police arrested them when they were taking the trader from Mumbai to Nashik. They were brought to the city on Saturday last.

The two other people arrested by the police are Mohammad Yousuf Khan and Sailesh Sharma.They were today presented in the court which sent them to judicial custody.
