Here is the top news of February 20, 2021:

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday dubbed the rising fuel price a "vexatious issue in which no answer except for fall in fuel price will convince anyone”

Sitharaman added that both Centre and state should talk to bring down retail fuel price at a reasonable level for consumers.

Japan's Naomi Osaka beat Jennifer Brady in straight sets in the Australian Open final to win her fourth major title on Saturday.

Osaka edged a tight first set and broke the American twice in the second to win 6-4, 6-3 in 77 minutes.

Osaka, who also beat her idol Serena Williams in straight sets in the semi-finals, has not lost a match in more than a year.

Opposing activist Disha Ravi's bail plea in the toolkit case, the Delhi Police on Saturday alleged in a court here that she was preparing the toolkit with those advocating Khalistan and was part of a global conspiracy to defame India and create unrest in the country in the garb of farmers' protest.

It alleged that Ravi deleted WhatsApp chats, emails and other evidence and was aware of legal actions she could face.

Amidst the fear over the resurgence of the second wave of Covid-19, Karnataka Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar ruled out imposing of lockdown, as of now, in any part of the state.

Sudhakar's statement comes close on the heels of BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad’s statement on Friday that if the citizens continue to violate Covid-19 rules, lockdown may be reintroduced.
