The Gurjars decided to resume march to Jaipur after their talks with the state government failed last week. They are asking the state government to ensure five per cent reservation to Gurjars under specially backward category. The Gurjars also want the state government to freeze all government recruitments till the issue of five per cent quota, which is sub-judice, is settled by the court.

In the wake of protesting Gurjars marching towards state capital from Dausa, Karauli, Tonk, Ajmer and other Gurjar-dominated regions, the state government has beefed up security and promulgated prohibitory orders at the state capital.

The Gurjars who started their march from the Dev Narain temple at Gazipur in Dausa district on Tuesday plan to resume march from Pipalkheda on Thursday morning, the epic centre of Gurjar agitation phase II in 2008. The Gurjars are threatening to lay siege at the state secretariat and bring the whole state to a halt if the state government doesn’t concede to their demands.
