Last Updated 19 November 2018, 17:45 IST

In Delhi, Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary comes across as an unassuming political leader.

The Minister of State for Coal is now making headlines for the wrong reasons after a CBI official alleged in his petition in the Supreme Court that he has taken "a few crores of rupees" as bribe to settle a case.

One who claims "reading and music" as his interests, Chaudhary is a four-term BJP MP from Gujarat. At present, he represents Banaskantha constituency in Lok Sabha. He was elected an MP in 1998, 1999, 2013 and 2014.

He became the Minister of State for Home in November 2014 in the first reshuffle and was later shifted to Coal Ministry in the July 2016 reshuffle.

An MCom degree holder from Mumbai University, Chaudhary was an agriculturist and a businessman before joining politics.
