Last Updated 07 August 2018, 19:31 IST

Former Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi shared a bond with KGF as he visited the city thrice in connection with the party events.

His first visit was on July 6, 1956. He had come to the city to chair a party workers meeting.

During his second visit on October 4, 1972, to attend a convention, he had entered a mine through a shaft. He had posed for a photograph inside the mine along with his supporter.

He had stayed at Krishna Bhavan at Robertsonpet, recalled Tamil Sangha's senior leader Kalaiyarasan.

He visited for the third time in 1984 for his party's another convention. He took part in a bike rally from Bethamangala to KGF.

"He had asked us to change based on the requirement of the land we are living, despite Tamil being our language," recalled Muniratna.

The DMK unit of the district has decided to hold a condolence meeting on Wednesday.
