Kerala Cong's battle for tickets reaches Delhi

The battle for Congress tickets in Kerala has reached Delhi with ongoing marathon discussions on Tuesday reaching no conclusions.

Party leaders — Chief Minister Ommen Chandy, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and KPCC chief V M Sudheeran could not reach a conclusion as they differ in issuing tickets to some candidates. Kerala House on Jantar Mantar Road is witnessing a huge presence of as Congress hopefuls are camping there to impress upon the leadership on their claims for contesting the Assembly elections slated for May 16.

Party sources said there is agreement over around 40 candidates from the Congress.

The exercise to thrash out differences on candidates for the rest of the seats may end only by April 1 as Sudheeran is insisting on dropping some of the close confidantes of Chandy from seeking renomination on the ground that some of them are facing charges besides giving chance for youngsters.
