Hoping to generate support for its effort to win more seats, the Trinamool Congress has roped in Rajya Sabha MP and film star Mithun Chakraborty as its campaigner both within and outside West Bengal.
Mithun, considered second only to party supremo Mamata Banerjee in terms of star power, is particularly expected to draw crowd in states like Assam, Tripura and Delhi.
Party sources said Mithun’s role is crucial, as he, along with anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare, would strongly woo voters outside of Bengal.
Mithun will be one of the speakers at the rally on March 12 in Delhi which would be jointly addressed by Anna Hazare and Mamata. As the party prepares to release the list of its candidates in Delhi on the same day, the film star would kick off its national campaign for the party at the rally scheduled at Ramlila grounds.
