Member of Parliament Konda Vishweshwar Reddy on Tuesday resigned from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), saying the party is becoming more and more distant from the people.

Reddy said that he is also resigning from the Lok Sabha.

Reddy, the richest MP from Telangana with declared assets of over Rs 528 crore, represents Chevella parliamentary constituency in Ranga Reddy district.

It is not immediately known whether the MP has any plans to join the Congress or any other party.

Reddy has been keeping himself away from party activity and campaigning in the seven Assembly segments in the Chevella Parliamentary Constituency.

In his three-page letter addressed to TRS president and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Reddy charged that the government was becoming inaccessible to the people. He regretted that the chief minister had inducted people who were against Telangana and the ideology into the cabinet and given them more power and prominence.

“Furthermore, my multiple attempts to resolve the issues or at least come to terms with them have failed. Since I am unable to acquiescence with the current scenario, I feel the best possible path for me is to resign from the party,” he said in the letter.

Reddy is said to be upset with the TRS leadership for sidelining him and giving more importance to Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy, who hails from the same district.

Another TRS MP Sitaram Naik from Mahbubabad is also learnt to be unhappy with the TRS for denying him the ticket for the 2019 LS polls and for encouraging IPS officer Lakshman Naik. Last week, Reddy and Sitaram had denied rumours of their quitting the party.

Reddy is the son-in-law of Apollo Hospitals Group chairman Pratap C Reddy and his wife Sangita Reddy is the managing director of Apollo Hospitals.
