AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, differing with some Muslim clerics and TMC leaders on the poll dates clashing with Ramzan, said Muslims will turn out in large numbers to vote during the fast.

"Please don't try to represent us Muslims. Let Muslims be on fast and also vote. Muslims are spiritually very active during Ramzan. So poll percentage will increase," Asaduddin said.

He argued that the Election Commission will have no other option than completing the process of elections to Parliament before 3 June.

"Ramzan starts from May 5 and ends by June 4. What do they expect the ECI to do?" he asked.

"Polling day will be a holiday any way. You mean to say that Muslims won't work or attend to their duties during Ramzan? If they love Muslims, they have whole a year to do something for them," Owaisi said.

Slamming those creating controversy, Owaisi said: "I earnestly request those political parties not to use the Muslim community and Ramzan for whatever reasons they have."
