"The BJP should have released an apology instead," Patel told reporters here even as he described the BJP manifesto as a "bagful of lies".

Gowda claimed that the BJP manifesto was full of contradictions which were evident right upfront. "This says we will reduce taxes and at the same time they say we will increase tax collections," he said. accusing the BJP of trying to fool people.

Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the Prime Minister's central 'mantra' was to “trap people by deception”.

The Congress accused the BJP of copy-pasting its 2014 poll document and changing all previous deadlines. "Luckily, they didn't shift any deadlines to the next century," Patel quipped.
