Candidates can file nominations online ahead of state Assembly polls

Candidates can fill their e-nomination by visiting the ‘Suvidha’ portal ‘suvidha.eci.gov.in’ prepared by the Election Commission of India

The Election Commission of India (EC) headed by Sunil Arora, on Friday, announced the schedule for Assembly Elections in West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu.

However, owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, the EC stated that this time candidates could file their nominations online too.

“Arrangements will be put in place for candidates to file their nominations online for the five assembly polls. Voting will be allowed for an additional hour, keeping in mind Covid-19 safety guidelines,” said Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora.

Candidates can fill their e-nomination by visiting the ‘Suvidha’ portal ‘suvidha.eci.gov.in’ prepared by the Election Commission of India.

A total of 824 Assembly constituencies shall be going for polls during these elections. 18.68 crore electors will cast vote at 2.7 lakh polling stations in the four states and one union territory.
