The BJP on Sunday described as "confession of defeat", the move of the Opposition parties to approach the Supreme Court over doubts over the reliability of electronic voting machines.

"The so-called all-party meet is nothing but a confession of defeat," BJP spokesman G V L Narasimha Rao said after leaders of seven opposition parties addressed a press conference on knocing the doors of Supreme Court on EVMs.

Rao accused the opposition parties of lacking an agenda for governance and a leadership that would inspire the people.

"The only thing they have in common is negativity and an attempt to somehow pull India back from the development it has witnessed in the past five years," he said.

He called the Opposition's Grand Alliance a non-alliance "because most constituents are fighting separately and are trying to find excuses for their impending massive defeat in the Lok Sabha polls".

"They have not only failed as an Opposition, but also failed to mount a challenge to the BJP in the elections," he said.
