After EVMs were first used in Kerala’s Parur Assembly seat, the Election Commission went ahead with its experiment.
In November 1982, EVMs was used in Northern Angami Assembly seat in Nagaland.
In 1983, 10 Assembly constituencies in states like Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Tripura were among those where the EVMs were used.
Shantinagar in Karnataka was the first to experiment with EVMs in 1983.
