Rail budget proposes 9 new trains operational from Delhi

Besides this, four train services running through Delhi have been extended, while the frequency of four others have been increased. Banerjee also announced the pre-feasibility study for the western leg (Delhi-Mumbai) of the Golden Rail Corridor would start next year.

"The study is being undertaken with help from Japan with the object of raising the speed of passenger trains to 160-200 Kmph. Similar studies will be initiated for Delhi-Jaipur route," Banerjee said.

The extension of Rail Yatri Sevaks with modern trolleys to six more stations, including New Delhi, was also announced. The pilot project to provide Internet access on trains will be rolled out in the Howrah-Delhi Rajdhani Express.

The budget also proposed extension of Train Management System to five stations, including New Delhi and Lucknow stations, to provide information on running of trains and two additional services on Delhi–Ghaziabad section.

The two new Duronto trains announced for Delhi are Mumbai Central- New Delhi AC Duronto (Bi-weekly) and Nizamuddin-Ajmer non-AC Duronto (Bi-weekly). The new Express trains are Bikaner-Delhi Superfast Intercity (daily) via Ratangarh and Delhi-Puducherry Express (weekly).

The proposed Double Decker AC train will run between Jaipur and Delhi, while a new Shatabdi Express between Ludhiana and Delhi has also been announced. Sealdah–New Delhi Duronto Express will now run on five days instead of the existing two days a week.

The following trains will be extended: Chhindwara-Gwalior Express to Delhi, Jhansi-Chhindwara Express to Delhi, Saharanpur- Delhi to Farukh Nagar and Delhi-Shahjahanpur Passenger to Sitapur Cantt.

The frequency of the following trains will be increased: New Delhi-Ajmer Shatabdi Express from six days to daily, Nizamuddin -Dehradun AC Express from six days to daily, New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express from six days to daily and Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Udaipur Chetak Express from four days to daily.
