In Rajasthan,120 infected with Zika; Swine Flu kills 27

With 120 people infected with Zika virus in Rajasthan within four weeks, the state health department continued to survey mosquito breeding in the affected areas and in its vicinity.

After 22 women pregnant women were found infected with Zika virus,the health department has constituted a committee to focus on pregnant women found positive during the survey in affected areas. As per the order released by the health directorate, a five-member committee has been constituted to investigate, examine and track Zika virus in pregnant patients.
The committee is headed by Head of Department of paediatrics at SMS Medical College and JK Lon Hospital Dr Sita Raman. Other members are Dr Lata Rajoria, HoD (Gynaecology) at SMS Medical college and Medical Superintendent Zanana Hospital, Dr Mukesh Mittal, Radiologist at Zanana Hospital, Dr Jay Shree Jain, Clinical Psychologist at Psychiatric Center and D R Raghuraj Singh, RCHO Jaipur.
The first case of Zika was reported on September 22. In India, the first outbreak was reported in Ahmedabad in January 2017 and the second was reported in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district in July that year.
Swine flu kills 27
According to the figures released by Rajasthan Health Department, th state has recorded 27 deaths between October 3 and October 18, while 235 people were tested positive for the disease in the same period. Total number of swine flu cases have increased to 1,967 this year. In 2018, Kota division has reported 64 swine flu deaths, while Jaipur division witnessed 52 deaths due to swine flu.
Since majority of the deaths were reported from Kota Zone, the health department officials are spreading awareness on swine flu around the city.
