Raje to contest from Jhalrapatan constituency

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Sunday announced that she will contest the upcoming Assembly election from the Jhalrapatan constituency in Jhalawar district.

Earlier speculations were made that Raje will contest from Dholpur, her home constituency and Jhalrapatan, her present Assembly constituency.

However, putting an end to all speculations, a press note from the chief minister's office said, “I have a three-decade-old connection with the people of Jhalawar. The people here have showered love and affection. I have done whatever I could do for Jhalawar and Baran districts,” she said.

Raje has been contesting from Jhalrapatan seat since 1985 and has been elected from the Jhalrapatan seat – in 2003, 2008 and 2013.

She also said her focus is to win all the 200 Assembly seats, however, her special attention would be on 100 seats.

She also exuded confidence that the BJP would form a majority government in the state once again.

Reacting on Rahul Gandhi's visit to her home turf, she said that BJP workers have done a solid work in the constituency which is why the Congress chief had to visit the constituency.

Rajasthan will go to the polls on December 7 and counting will be held on December 11.
