Raman Singh calls on Rajnath, Shah

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, who is on a tour to Delhi, called on BJP national president Amit Shah, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Mrs Sumitra Mahajan on Monday and Tuesday.

On late Monday evening, the chief minister had called on the BJP party president Amit Shah. He had a discussion on the upcoming election and its preparations in the state. Party sources said that it was a courtesy call.

Amit Shah is expected to visit Chhattisgarh in the last week of August. 

Meanwhile, the meeting of chief minister Raman Singh with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday has seen a crucial meeting after the success of the operation conducted by security forces in Left Wing Extremist affected areas in Chhattisgarh.

The meeting which continued for more than an hour is reported to have been mainly revolved around the Maoist issue along with the political scenario in the state.

Sources said that the home minister sought details of the anti-Maoist operation being undertaken in the state along with developmental works, its progress and connectivity.

Chhattisgarh is going for a massive connectivity programme by installing mobile towers as the distribution of smart-phones under the SKY scheme is underway.

It is reported that the chief minister briefed Rajnath on the success achieved on the operations being undertaken in monsoon season and proposed for expediting it.

Based on the specific inputs of the presence of a large number of Maoists in the Errabore region of Sukma district on Monday, a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG), STF and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had surrounded the base camp, closing all the escape routes. 15 were killed while two were arrested in the operation.

The chief minister also paid a courtesy call to the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

On the occasion, Lok Sabha members from Chhattisgarh Abhishek Singh, Vikram Usendi, Kamla Devi Patel, Dr Banshilal Mahto and former MP Pradeep Gandhi were also present.
