Shah to roll out social media strategy for polls

Last Updated 18 July 2018, 14:07 IST

In the first of its kind initiative, BJP national president Amit Shah will address 6,000 social media volunteers from Jaipur's iconic Rajmandir cinema hall.

Also, this Saturday, instead of screening Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju at 4.30 pm, the single-screen theatre will screen Shah's lecture.

To take stock of the situation in the state ahead of the polls, Shah, who will be in Jaipur on Friday, is expected to roll out a power-packed social media strategy for the Assembly polls.

The Rajmandir ticket counter managers are declining to issue tickets to Sanju for the 4.30 pm show on Friday to the disappointment of many.

Party insiders said the number of social media volunteers are expected to be 6,000.

"It was challenging for us to accommodate such a large audience. So we shortlisted Rajmandir Cinema Hall," an office-bearer said.

According to party sources, this is the first time the political party chief will address volunteers through a cinema hall.

Apart from the meeting at Raj Mandir, Shah will be interacting with party members and MLAs at Indralok auditorium at Narayan Singh Circle, according to the itinerary.

Shah is expected to take stock of the situation and schemes ahead of the polls. He is visiting Jaipur exactly one year after his last visit. This visit is crucial as the BJP had lost three seats in the recent bypolls.

Party members are all set to welcome the national president in traditional Rajasthani style. According to City President Sanjay Jain, more than 2,000 workers of the Mahila Morcha, wearing traditional Rajasthani apparel, will welcome Shah at the airport.

The women will welcome him with Kalash on their head and aarti thali in hand. The party has also roped in Ghoomar and Kalbeliyan dancers for the welcome.
