PM Modi launches key power, urban projects in Kerala

After a major allocation for national highways and metro rail development in the Budget, the Centre has also launched a series of infrastructure projects in poll-bound Kerala.

Hardly five days after commissioning major infrastructure projects to the tune of over Rs 6,000 crore in Kerala, including the Propylene Derivative Petrochemical project at BPCL Kochi Refinery, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched another set of infrastructure project through video conferencing.

A Power transmission project Pugalur from Tamilnadu to Thrissur in Kerala worth Rs 5,070 crore with a capacity of 320 KV was one of the major projects commissioned on Friday. He also launched a solar power project developed under the National Solar Energy Mission in Kasargod and a water treatment plant at Aruvikkara in Thiruvananthapuram under the AMRUT Mission. He also laid foundation stones of the Integrated Command and Control Centre and a Smart Roads Project in Thiruvananthapuram.

While the Prime Minister emphasised development during his address, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan thanked the PM for the projects.

The Kerala government is also launching a series of development projects in Kerala.
