The government will ensure sufficient availability of fertilizer in the coming Kharif season, Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilizer D V Sadananda Gowda said on Friday.
Gowda, who assumed charge as the Minister for the second time, said his ministry will strive hard to ensure agriculture inputs at an affordable cost.
In the previous dispensation, Gowdaheld this portfolio after it was allotted to him following the demise of senior BJP leader Ananth Kumar.
The government ensured sufficient supply of fertilizer in the last five years, the Minister said, adding that the government will work to reduce the importance of urea and encourage increase in its domestic production.
He also said that the government will take steps to bring more medicines under the bracket of low prices. He also said the government will open a number of generic medicines shops under the banner of Jan Aushadhi.
