Telangana govt forms SIT to probe data theft case

Telangana government on Wednesday formed a nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe data theft by Madhapur based IT-Grids (India), which has developed “Seva Mitra” app for Telugu Desam Party.

The SIT will be headed by the West Zone in-charge Inspector General Stephen Raveendra, Principal Secretary (Home) Rajiv Trivedi, in an order, has said that the SIT will immediately take over all the cases filed in different commissionerates of the state. The order expects cooperation among the cyber crime police stations of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda and the CID. The SIT after completion of the investigation, will file its report in the court concerned.

Other members

The Madhapur police registered the case under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 379 (theft), 420 (cheating) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of Indian Penal Code, along with Sections 72 and 66B of IT Act based on a complaint by T Lokeswara Reddy.

Kamareddy district Superintendent of Police N Swetha, Cyberabad Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes) Rohini Priyadarshini, Narayanpet Sub-Divisional Police Officer G Sridhar, Cyberabad Deputy Superintendent of Police B Ravi Kumar Reddy, Madhapur Assistant Commissioner of Police N Shyam Prasad Rao, Cyberabad Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crimes) Ch Y Srinivas, Central Crime Station (Cybercrimes) Inspectors B Ramesh and G Venkat Rami Reddy are the other members of the team.
