JEE Advanced 2018 results: Chariot ride for all India toppers in Kota

It was an unusual sight on the roads of Kota as hundreds of students and locals joined to celebrate Sahil Jain and Meenal Parakh, two students who topped in JEE Advanced 2018 and were subsequently paraded on a 'royal' chariot on Sunday.

Kota based Meenal Parakh secured the All India Rank (AIR) 6 and Sahil Jain who hails from Rajasthan’s Bundi district secured the second rank (AIR 2) in JEE Advanced 2018.

For 17-year-old Sahil, son of a school teacher Dhanraj Jain and Sunita Jain a homemaker, it was an unbelievable news to hear that he has secured second rank in India. Sharing his success mantra with DH, Sahil said: "Mock practice of online tests helped me to appear in the entrance test." Sahil, who scored 326 marks out of 360 marks wants to pursue a degree in computer science from IIT Bombay.

The first-ever completely computer-based Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE-Advanced) held on May 20. The examination is held for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology.

Sahil, an NTSE scholar, secured 95.2% marks in Class 12 had earlier secured AIR 40 in JEE Mains this year by scoring 330 marks. Moreover, he also stood AIR 3 in Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, a scholarship programme funded by the department of science and technology.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Meenal Parakh who is AIR 1 among girls with 318 marks out of 360 wants to share her notes with the other aspirants, "It was an unbelievable news for me. I owe my success to my teachers and family who supported me all through the course. And I want to share my notes with the aspirants of IIT". 

Meenal, a daughter of BSNL employee Gulabchand Parakh, also scored 93% marks in the Central Board of Secondary Education’s Class 12 board exams this year. 

Both Meenal and Sahil were students at Kota’s Vibrant Academy. Hailing the success Vibrant Academy’s director MS Chouhan told DH, "On the basis of the answer key of JEE Advanced we had guessed that our students Sahil Jain and Meenal Parakh will be in the toppers list". 

Jaipur based Pawan Goyal obtained AIR -4 while Lay Jain from Kota and Neel Aryan Gupta of Chandigarh, both students of Allen Career Institute in Kota, secured  9th and 10th positions respectively in JEE advanced results.

Around, 1.55 lakh students appeared for the JEE Advanced examination this year that was conducted on May 20 out of which 18,138 have qualified. With results out now, seat allocation will commence from June 15.
