VHP to launch Ayodhya-like movement in Sabarimala

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the RSS on Thursday took up the Sabarimala issue on the first day of the two-day 'Dharam Sansad' (religious parliament) at the Kumbh in Prayagaraj and said that there was a "conspiracy" to divide the Hindus.

The Dharam Sansad, which was attended by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, declared an Ayodhya-like movement would be launched on the issue of Sabarimala.

Bhagwat said the Supreme Court did not take into account the "faith" of Hindus in the Sabarimala case and added that the verdict had "hurt" Hindu sentiments.

"A mischievous war is being waged against the Hindus," the RSS chief remarked.

Bhagwat claimed that no women were ready to enter the Sabarimala Temple even after the apex court verdict. "If any woman wants to enter the temple then she should be allowed...but no woman wants to go there...women from Sri Lanka were given entry from the back door in the temple," he said.

The saints and seers at the 'Dharam Sansad' were unanimous on "protecting the age-old tradition of a ban on the entry of women" in Sabarimala.

The seers also said that the Kerala government was "persecuting" Hindus and vowed to make every sacrifice to preserve the religious traditions.

Bhagwat said the Hindus must take note of the conspiracies being hatched against them and beware of them.

They said that a countrywide movement would soon be launched on the Sabarimala issue to galavanise public opinion.
