Maharashtra sees a worrying trend of Covid-19 deaths

In a worrying trend, Covid-19 deaths in Maharashtra increased with three-figure casualty numbers for seven days in a row.

On Wednesday, Maharashtra recorded 227 deaths, first time the state crossed the 200-mark since October, 2020.

The dates/deaths were March 25 (111), March 26 (112), March 27 (166), March 28 (108), March 29 (102), March 30 (139) and March 31 (227).

The case fatality rate in the state is 1.94 per cent.

Meanwhile, after a drop in cases for couple of days, the 24-hour cases in Maharashtra went up to 39,544 on Wednesday.

On Monday and Tuesday, the state recorded 31,643 and 27,918 cases, respectively.

The progressive total cases and deaths now stand at 28,12,980 and 54,649, respectively.

During the last 24 hours, Mumbai recorded 5,399 cases and 15 deaths, while the larger Mumbai metropolitan region reported 9,941 cases and 33 deaths.

The total active cases in the state now stand at 3,56,243.

During the day, 23,600 patients were discharged, taking the total recovered patients to 24,00,727.
