YSR drank brandy daily: APCC chief

Andhra Pradesh Congress chief Botsa Satyanarayana sparked off a controversy on Thursday following his remarks that former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy consumed brandy daily. 

Reacting to allegations by the late chief minister’s daughter Sharmila that Congress has inherited “brandy giri” and promoted liquor mafia, Botsa told a press conference if Sharmila would deny that her father consumed brandy every day, 365 days a year. 

“If you know what inheritance means, then you need to tell us whether you know if your father used to drink brandy? As a novice you are doing padayatra…go ahead do it but learn how to talk,” he said to Sharmila who is currently touring his constituency.

His comment has caused disquiet among. The YSRC was quick to condemn Botsa’s comments, with Sobha Hymavathi and Lakshmi Parvathi from the party asking him to withdraw the comments against YSR –who gave him a break in politics— and tender an apology.
