Facts about missions to Mars: the race for the Red Planet

China launched a rover to Mars on Thursday, a journey coinciding with a similar US mission as the powers take their rivalry into deep space. The two countries are taking advantage of a period when Earth and Mars are favourably aligned for a short journey, with the US spacecraft due to lift off on July 30. In an alarming record daily spike in Covid-19 cases, 45,720 fresh coronavirus cases take the total number of positive cases in the country to over 12 lakh. In the last 24 hours, 1,129 deaths were recorded, taking the toll to 29,861. There are 4,26,167 active cases of coronavirus and 7,82,606 people have recovered, according to data of the Union Health Ministry.

India Under Lockdown: July 20, 2020

In an alarming record daily spike in Covid-19 cases, over 40,000 fresh cases have taken the total number of positive cases in the country to over 11 lakh. 681 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 27,497. Meanwhile, 11 most Covid-19 affected countries in the world -- the US, Brazil, Russia, Peru, Chile, Mexico, South Africa, the UK, Iran, Pakistan, Spain -- together reported 8 times more cases and 14 times more deaths than India, said the Health Ministry.
